    • Dedicated to the memory of Joyce Ritchie Strosahl. Premiered by soprano Gilda Lyons and the Yakima Symphony Chamber Orchestra, October 2012.
    • "Joyce Ritchie Strosahl, the subject of Hagen's Piano Trio No. 4: Angel Band, was for many years the guiding spirit behind the Seasons Performance Hall, a lovely concert space that began as a Church of Christian Science in Yakima, Washington. Joyce's story is told elsewhere, and it is a good one. For a number of years Daron Hagen served as artistic director of a music festival based in the concert hall; Gilda Lyons also served on the faculty and performed. Both fell in love with Joyce, the Strosahl family, and the city of Yakima. In 2012, Joyce died. In loving tribute to her, Hagen created an extended setting of the original hymn for voice and orchestra. The work's premiere by the Yakima Symphony Orchestra, with the melody sung by Lyons, the orchestra conducted by Hagen, served to inaugurate the 2012 Seasons Fall Festival. It combines musical ideas from Hagen's fourth piano trio, elements of Lyons' arrangement of the hymn, and Hagen's own performing version (made for voice and piano, for joint recital appearances with Lyons). It is dedicated to the Strosahl family, in appreciation for their steadfast support of the arts in the Yakima Valley. " -- http://www.daronhagen.com/store/angel-band
