Summary note
Photographs of the Mexican Revolution that continue to circulate widely today are not very numerous and little represent the reality and complexity of the armed conflict. The objective of this text is to help understand the process of decanting of the original corpus of photographs of the Mexican Revolution through the study of one of the supports for the dissemination of this iconography: the illustrated press. From a comparative analysis of photographs of the Revolution published during the armed conflict (1910-1920) and during the Post-Revolution (1920-1940), the author tries to explain the gradual disappearance of some types of images and at the same time, the transformation of very specific photos in. The book highlights the role of the illustrated press in the consolidation and the post-revolutionary ideology through a selection of a symbolic iconography that allows the public certain events and key figures of the revolution.
