  • Originated in the Scriptorium of the court at Aachen, circa 810, and was reunited there for Council of Europe 1965 exhibition: Charlemagne: His achievements and influence. It comprises the ivory Madonna cover at Victoria and Albert museum, the ivory Christ cover at the Vaticans Museo sacra, The Gospels of St. Matthew and St. Mark at the Biblioteca documentara Batthayneum, Alba Julia, and the Gospels of St. Luke and St. John at the Biblioteca apostolica vaticana.
