最早进入欧洲人视野的中国封建法典是"大清律例".这部法律典籍于1810年被身为英国旅行家,汉学家及政客的斯当东爵士(Sir George Thomas Staunton)译成英文在欧洲出版,引起轰动.国内学界对19世纪"大清律例"的翻译史及译者研究主要就是围绕斯当东及其英译本.然而,自斯当东译本出版不久后,"大清律例"便被4位法国人在19世纪内陆续译成法文出版.对此,目前国内学界-就编译者有限的阅读范围内-还无一篇论文或一部著作对法译本及法译者群体作详细研究.
