Summary note
This collection of articles demonstrates the wealth of topics Maltese has to offer for general linguists and contact linguists alike. Ranging from diachronic studies to questions of variation in present day Maltese on all linguistic levels, the contributions highlight the special place of Maltese in linguistics as an Arabic language in Europe with a heavily mixed lexicon (Semitic, Sicilian, Italian, English).
