Maria Judite de Carvalho (1921-1998) est l'une des voix les plus secrètes de la littérature portugaise du XX e siècle, malgré une oeuvre considérable et encore mal connue. Son écriture épurée et percutante où pointe une fine ironie, traduisent une vision désenchantée du monde, et une réflexion sur la solitude humaine, le temps éphémère, et la condition des femmes. Ces dix-neuf études éclairent la profondeur de son oeuvre.
