Summary note
An abridged translation of the "Trattato de'morbi particolari delle donne (a treaty of specific diseases of women), which constitutes the second book of Cristini's 'Pratica medicinale e osservazioni" (Venice 1680).

  • Physical description: 18-19 single lines per page; 4to; collation: [1]5 [2]-[30]8 [31]6: [243] ff.; blank pages [1]-[2] at the beginning and [3]-[23] at the end. Pagination in a contemporary hand, without signatures. Written in Greek script in black ink. A table of contents is included at the end of the manuscript.
  • Title on p. 1 followed by translator's foreword: "Pros ton anagnōstēn. Den einai philtate anagnōsta ho skopos mou dia na kamō epideixin me etoutēn mou tēn metaphrasin ... Kai hē anagnōsis tou vivliou thelei vevaiōsei ekeino, hopou legō. Errōso, En Retzianē, 1811 Ianouariou 10." Main text on pp. 2-460 (divided into 24 chapters and 490 paragraphs), table of contents on pp. [1]-[2], owner's inscription at the end of the table: "Ek tōn tou christodoulou pantazēadēs / tzamicha." An inscription on the verso of the first front flyleaf explains that this book is a gift to the physician Dēmētrios Daplēs by the former owner of the manuscript: "Tō axiotimō philō mou kyriō Dēmētriō Daplē Iatrō / mnēmēs eneken dōroumai to / paron perielthon eis tēn katochēn / ek patrikēs klēronomias. / N. Pantazidēs" "en Limēn Vathys Samou, tē 30 Noemvriou 1900."
