Summary note

Published as a supplement to a popular youth magazine; written by Fujita Seiko, 14th headmaster of the Kōga school. Fujita claimed to be the last real ninja in Japan. He divides the scroll into 15 chapters. Chapters cover such topics as how to walk over the water and how to disappear under the water, how to use fireworks and gunpowder to escape, and how to make other people sleep soundly so that you can sneak around them. Fujita says that ninjas are popularly believed to use magic, but he argues that what appears to be magic is really the results of strict physical and mental training and a knowledge of science. He also reminds his audience that these techniques were designed to be used for military detective work, not for fighting or stealing.
