Revised expanded work on noted furniture designer. His childhood in Brazil and the legacy of Lina Bo Bardi, are the fundamentals of the craftsmanship and the concrete art of architect and designer Paulo Alves. The result is a legitimate expression of Brazilian design (often linked to mid-20th-century Scandinavian design), richly illustrated and described in this book. The furniture designed by the author reveal a creative logic in the wood - and its natural and symbolic characteristics - are the protagonists. Throughout the book, you can see how certain designer solutions advance and recombine in different product lines, always with amazing results. The inventiveness of Alves and his mastery in his designs with wood refers to the legacy of the masters of modern Brazilian furniture design. The book has texts signed by musician Nando Reis, by designers Zanini de Zanine and Marcelo Rosenbaum, by journalist Regina Galvão, by professor Lu of Laurentiz, the shopkeeper Maria Haich Abbey and by industrial designer Guido Otte. Excerpt from the text of Marcelo Rosenbaum: "the work of Paulo is brave, always results in a stylish design, with a new look. Thinking of his talent, I think that is related to a great capacity for synthesis, which enables you to simplify what will be produced. This reasoning involves the aesthetic pleasure of those who will use those pieces, the suitability to the role that they play and, at the same time, the use of the materials in its limit of exploitation."
