Summary note
Greek music manuscript containing a collection of introductory hymns (hirmoi) in post-Byzantine neumes for the various canons which are chanted at Matins and other services. Among the poets and composers named are: Chrysaphēs ho neos; Daniēl Prōtopsaltēs; Iōannēs Prōtopsaltēs; Petros Lampadarios (also known as Petros, ho Peloponnēsios); Germanos Archiereus Neōn Patrōn (now Hypatē, Greece); Damianos hieromonachos Vatopedinos; Dēmētrios Domestichos; Petros Bereketēs ho Melōdos (also known as Petros Glykys, ho Bereketēs); Petros, ho Vyzantios; Valasios hiereus ho nomophylax; Panagiōtēs Prōtopsaltēs ho Chalatzoglou; Athanasios Patriarchēs tōn Hierosolymōn; Geōrgios, ho Krēs; Iakōvos Prōtopsaltēs; Meletios Sinaitēs ho Palaios; Grēgorios Lampadarios (also known as Grēgorios, ho Prōtopsaltēs).

  • Physical description: 15 double lines a page, 4to (232 x 170 mm.). Collation: [α]4 1-274 [28]2: [114] ff. (marginal stains, ff. [α]/2v-[α]/4v, [28]/1 & [28]/2 blank). Title under polychrome headpiece. On f. [α]/1r-[α]/2r: "To paron psalletai eis tēn lamprophoron Anastasin, poiēma tou kyr Chrysaphou tou neou"; signatures on lower outer corner of first page of each quire, without foliation or pagination.

Bound in brown contemporary leather (blind-tooled decoration incorporating stamps of the French Republic: "VICE CONSULAT DE LATTAQUIE / REP. FRAN."); sewn on four raised bands.
