Notes
Book dealer's note: Lady Diana Beauclerk was a friend of Johnson, Walpole, Reynolds (who painted her portrait and thought her an excellent artist). She was a gifted 'amateur' (in the best 18th century sense) artist and responsible for illustrating printed books at Walpole's Strawberry Hill Press, Dryden's Fables and Spencer's trans. of Leonora for Bentley. She also produced numerous engravings for Bartolozzi.
