Summary note
A Triodion, or, the Orthodox liturgical book containing the propers for the fasting period preceding Easter and for the few weeks leading up to the fast. The period which the book covers extends from the Sunday of the Publican and Pharisee and concludes with the Sunday of the Myrrhbearers (pages 1-73). Included also are cherouvika composed by the same person, Geōrgios P. Vinakēs, chanter of the island of Chios, Greece (pp. 74-153).

  • Physical description: 11 to 12 double lines a page; written in Byzantine music notation in blue and red ink; headings in red ink; pages 155-171 are written by a different hand in black ink; numeration ends on page 201; the rest of the book is blank. There are also eight pages of an essay entitled: "Ektasis tēs Mousikēs en genei."
Binding note
Bound in brown fabric with leather spine over hard boards with a golden cross on front cover; sewn on four raised bands; the initials S.G. appear on the last panel of the spine.
