Notes
Title from incipit on p. [1].
Colophon reads: Impressum Rom[ae] per Venerabilem uirum Magistru[m] Eucharium Silber : alias Franck. Anno domini Millesimoquadringentesimo octogesimo septimo. Quinto decimo kal[endas]. Martii.
Part of the collection Scriptores rei militaris, sive Scriptores veteres de re militari, Goff S343, often issued together. Cf. ISTC.
Edited by Johannes Sulpitius Verulanus, who dedicated it to Petrus Paulus de Comite: see dedicatory letter in Flavius Vegetius Renatus. De re militari. Rome : Eucharius Silber, 29 January 1487.
The Greek original was dedicated to Emperor Traianus, erroneously referred to as Hadrianus in Greek manuscripts and in Gaza's translation.
The illustrations of military tactical formations are created by the use of ordinary printer's types arranged in patterns showing the positioning of troops.
With initial spaces and printed guide letters; without foliation, catchwords. All gatherings unsigned.
Reproduction of original in: Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze -- Incunabula.
Reproduction note
Electronic reproduction. Ann Arbor, Mich. : ProQuest, 2010 Mode of access: World Wide Web. Available to subscribing institutions.
Language note
Translated from Greek into Latin by Theodorus Gaza.
