Summary note
Mineiro artist Solange Person (b. Ferros, MG 1961) works with ceramics combined with natural materials like fruits, animal blood, human hair, grasses, leaves, wool and leather to create drawings and oil paintings using red clay, bronze sculptures of varied dimensions, performances, videos and installations that develop conceptual, anthropological, symbolic and architectural relations with the exhibiting space. "Anthropophagy (the practice of ritual cannibalism) has new meanings, is the symbiosis of bronze with nature in a clash without control, like in the rational and formalized world. My first contact with the word "anthropophagy" was when I was 15/16 years, through two studies of literary movements and my contact with some carbon drawings by Anitta Malfatti, and her male nudes. Those designs were very important for me." --Pages 35.
