Summary note
Provides brief background on Miranda v. Arizona which set precedent for a specific formula of "rights" of which a person in custody must be informed, before a confession can be admissible in court. Reviews Supreme Court case law since 1981 that has limited scope of Miranda; and reviews 1987 Department of Justice report criticizing Miranda, urges its overruling, and suggesting that Supreme Court may be amenable to such a result.
