    Summary note
Two early calligraphic copies of the dīvāns of Shams Maghribī and Āz̲arī Isfarāyinī.
    Notes
    • Ms. codex.
    • Title from lower edge.
    • Physical description: 14 lines per page, in two columns; written in small, elegant nastaʻliq in black on high-quality creamy glazed, laid Arabic paper. Text and columns framed in gold. Catchwords; marginal notes and verses in Persian and Ottoman Turkish. Mild staining, smudging, and insect damage. In excellent condition.
    • Decoration: On leaf 1a is an illuminated shamsah delicately finished with gold, blue, brown and black floral and arabesque scrolling, using a colour palette characteristically seen in Turkman illumination. Similar detail can be seen in the illuminated scrolling on leaves 1b and 2a and the illuminated ʻunwāns on leaves 1b and 78b, where the illuminated cartouche is contained in a knot-work border. All illuminations are somewhat smudged.
    • Origin: Text 1 dated 22 Jumādá II 874 H [27 December 1469] (leaf 76a). Text 2 likely completed around the same time. Likely from western Iran.
    Binding note
Three quarter maroon leather with flap; gold-stamped fillets and gold-tooling on flap hinge; marbled paper covers; blue paper doublures.
    Language note
    Persian.
