Notes
A handmade set of cards for playing a game similar to Old Maid (a deck for Schwartzen Peter is 31-37 cards, so this set may be missing some) made by Gertrud Lendorff (possibly the Swiss-born art historian 1900-1986) for young friends living in St. Gall, Switzerland.
Dated from one of the set of cards with the British flag in the left hand corner, which depicts a doll named "Margaret Rose," possibly a reference to the sister of Queen Elizabeth II and future Countess of Snowden (1930-2002).
The subjects of the cards include many dolls, including some Swiss folk toys, matryoshka dolls, and animal figurines. They also include two copies of Beatrix Potter's illustrations for her character the mouse Hunca Munca in The Tale of Two Bad Mice.
