    • Dated from the 1825 watermark on leaf 4; (Pitts active at 6 Gt. St. Andrew St. address from 1819-1844, cf. Brown, London publishers, p. 151).
    • First and last leaves laid down to wrappers.
    • Pastedowns, which are not integral to the text block, are illustrated with boys and girls shaking down letters of the alphabet from the tree of knowledge (front) and a character from the commedia d'el arte (rear).
    • Second "i" in "Pippins" on title page is number 1, thus: "PIPP1NS"

    Publisher's pale blue wrappers, upper with star woodcut between cover title and imprint and lower with two cuts and price: "two pence plain; and fourpence coloured."
