• The ball is divided into 6 sections, each with a color lithographed illustration. Each illustration is accompanied by 2 lines of a well known nursery rhyme : "here's a ball for baby, nice and soft and round / here's the baby's hammer, hear the baby pound / here's the baby's soldiers, standing in a row / here's the baby's trumpet, hear the baby blow / don't take the ball away, to make baby cry / here's the baby's cradle, to rock baby by".
• The ball is homemade, cut out from a cloth pattern sheet which includes the 6 sections of the ball, instructions for assembly, patent information, and lyrics and music staff for "Baby's ball".
• Manufacture and date information attained from Ebay listing of original uncut cloth pattern sheet, see electronic access.
• Earliest attribution of "All for baby" nursery rhyme found in Finger Plays: for nursery and kindergarten, Emilie Poulsson (1893), p.37-40. Lyrics and music differ slightly. see cid: 86551.
