Volumes 3 and 4 of Rawz̤at al-ṣafā, containing the history of the twelve Imams, the Umayyads, and the Abbasids and the history of the dynasties contemporary with the Abbasids, respectively.

• Title from 1a by a later hand.
• Physical description: 26 lines per page; written in nastaʻliq in black on tan glazed, laid Arabic paper. Some leaves are dyed blue or salmon. Rubrication and catchwords. Some damp staining and paper repairs, occasionally resulting in slight loss of text; first folio is particularly damaged. Fol. 318-319, ii detached and some gatherings are loose.
• Origin: Volume 3, 1 Ramaḍān 1056 H [11 October 1646], Muḥammad Taqī ibn Darvīsh Ḥusayn (fol. 125a). Volume 4, 30 Muḥarram 1057 H [7 March 1647], same scribe (fol. 319a).
• Incipit (volume 3): اي نام تو بر کل ممالک مالک * وي راهروان کوي عشقت سالک * در وصف كمال تو حسىن ميگويم * انت الباقي و كل شيء ها[لك] حمد و ثناي که سبحان ملاء اعلي از اداي شمۀ آن عاجز آىند شکر و سپاس که معكفان صوامع بالا در گفتن آن تقصىر اعتراف نماىند

Provenance

On fol. ia, 125b, notes dated 1255 H [1839 or 40], 25 Ṣafar 1312 H [28 August 1894], and 1330 H [1911 or 12]. On fol. 1a, note dated 1154 H [1741 or 2]. Stamp on fol. 1b. On fol. 125b, numerous smudged owner's stamps and owner's note by Ibn Muḥammad Ibrāhīm Muḥammad dated 1182 H [1768 or 9]. Partially smudged note on fol. 126a dated Muḥarram 12--. On fol. 320b, owner's stamp and numerous notes, two of which bear the dates 1229 H [1813 or 14] and 22 Jumādá II 1312 H [21 December 1894].
