Summary note
Vol. 2 covers the south and west of the county and includes areas, such as Barnet and Elstree, that are now within greater London. It also includes a detailed account of the city and cathedral of St Albans. Vol. 3 covers the northern and eastern parts of the county, including accounts of Baldock, Bishop's Stortford, Hitchin and Letchworth, as well as the county town of Hertford. Vol. 4 is a part-volume describing the religious houses of the county, including the Abbey of St Albans.
