  • On fol. ia: Label reading "Douane Centrale Paris."
  • Physical description: 19 lines per page, in three columns; outer column 12 lines and written on a diagonal. Written in small, elegant nastaʻliq in black on cream glazed, laid Arabic paper. Fol. 329b to end written in red and black. Written surface gold-sprinkled and framed in blue and gold; columns separated by double gold lines. Headings in red; catchwords. Lacuna after fol. 367, and fol. 368 is a blank replacement. Last seven leaves loose. A few paper repairs and light staining; otherwise in excellent condition.
  • Decorations: Lavishly illuminated double-page ʻunwāns in gold and colors mark the beginning of each section, except for texts 9-12, 14-15 which begin with small illuminated headings; titles in white on gold ground. On pages with double-page ʻunwāns, text set within clouds on gold ground decorated with delicate floral pattern, and margins embellished with large floral/folial pattern.
  • Origin: Copy completed by Muḥammad Muʾmin al-Shīrāzī in Rajab 1028 H [June 1619] (fol. 375a).
Binding note
Full maroon leather with flap; decorated with gold-stamped central mandorla, pendants, and corner pieces and gold-tooled fillets. Two hemi-stitches of poetry gold-stamped on fore edge of flap. Maroon leather doublures with central mandorla, pendants, corner pieces, and border in gold filigree on multi-colored background.
