Elegant copy of a collection of prayers to be said at various times of the day and month; holograph.

  • On front cover: Label reading "70" in Arabic script.
  • On spine: Label reading "618" in Arabic script.
  • Physical description: 11 lines per page; written in elegant naskh in black on creamy glazed, laid Arabic paper. Rubrication in gold and red; a few pages contain additional supplications written in the margins. Arabic prayers vocalized; some prayers accompanied by interlinear Persian translation in red. Fol. 1-8 added at a later date; table of contents on fol. 1b-7b set within a gold grid and written alternately in black and blue (fol. 8a-8b contain empty grids). Paginated in Arabic script in blue beginning on fol. 11a. A few marginal paper repairs and light staining and smudging; otherwise in excellent condition.
  • Decoration: Illuminated ʻunwān on fol. 9b, with delicate floral and scroll work primarily in gold, blue, and maroon. On fol. 9b-10a, margins decorated with intricate floral and foliar pattern in gold, blue, and pink; text set within clouds surrounded by gold illumination. Entire text framed in blue and gold with outer marginal gold border.
  • Origin: Completed by the author on Friday, 15 Rajab 1068 H [19 April 1658] (fol. 338b).

Binding note
Full black leather over pasted boards with brown leather spine. Gold-stamped central mandorla with pendants and corner designs, containing floral/foliar pattern which has been painted red and green. Fillets and other accents around stamped designs painted in gold. Red marbled paper pastedowns with silver border.
