    Summary note
The Yukon in the thirties was unique. It resembled no other corner of Canada - indeed no other corner of the world. Dr. Duncan saw it all, and it is a service to his readers a well as to future historians that he has made this vanished era come alive. Dr. Duncan's book is an important work of social history but unlike some dry-as-dust volumes, it is never less than lively -- from back of book.
