Binding note
Contemporaneous? type II (with flap) binding in red leather. Blind-stamped mandorla with pendants and blind-stamped and -tooled decorative frame and edging on covers. Similar decoration on flap and flap edge. Cover loose. Not currently sewn.

1. fol. 1a-4a: [Treatise on Qurʼanic recitation] An anonymous metrical essay in fifty-six verses with a prose introduction on the pauses in the Qurʼan according to the school of al-Sajāwandī, ca. 560 [1164/5].
2. fol. 4b-12a: al-Muqaddimah al-Jazarīyah. An ode on the chanting of the Qurʼan by Shams al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn al-Jazarī.

A work explaining the general expressions in the Qurʼan which are intented to designate definite persons or things, the proper names which have been handed down by tradition. They are taken in the order in which they are found in the text, the names of the respective Sūrahs forming the rubrics.
