Summary note

An immense encyclopedia of medicine, a codification of the whole of ancient and Muslim knowledge. These two volumes cover the first division of the third book dealing with the diseases of the head and throat. (Corresponds to part I, pp. 281-385 of the Roman edition.), and the first section of the fourth part dealing with the various kinds of fevers, skin and joint diseases and wounds. (Corresponds to part II, pp. 1-119 of the Roman edition.).

• Layout: 17-19 lines per page.
• Description: Ruricated ; some vowel signs ; MS in good condition except several folios are worm-eaten and mended and the first two folios in both volumes are defective;

Binding note

Volume 3: Later quarter-bound type III (without flap) binding in red leather and purple paper with block-pressed design. Purple paper pastedowns. Volume 4: Later type II (with flap) binding in red leather. Blind-stamped mandorla with pendants and blind-tooled edging. Brown leather doublures. Flap is missing.
