Lives of eminent doctors of Muslim law, arranged chronologically from the time of the Companions until 780 [1378/9].
Notes
Collation: Paper ; fol. i + 163 + ii ; catchwords ; quires signed 2-15 ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.
Description: Rubricated ; vowel signs ; watermarks (three crescents) ; MS in good condition. MS is rare.
Layout: 21 lines per page.
Marginal notes and glosses; marginal summaries in red. On the folios before the title page occur a table of contents (fol. 1b-5b), a statement about the author, another that this copy was written by the author himself (fol. 7a) and a summary of the contents (fol. 10a). Title page has several additions and some erasures. There is also a paragraph about the birth of Fāṭimah bint Muḥammad ibn Nāṣib al-Dīn Muḥammad on 3 Rajab 943 in Ḥalab with an addendum on her death on 10 Dhū al-Ḥijjah 950. The three folios after the colophon have an essay and a poem.

Binding note
Later? type II (with flap) binding in maroon leather. Gold floral design painted on covers. Gold painted frame and edging on covers and flap. Gilt design on all three edges. Pink pastedowns and flyleaves.

Ownership signatures include: Shaykhʹzādah (fol. 7a), Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Shawṭī, Mawlā Bā al-Saʻadī Ḥalabī, Sulaymān together with his seal impression, and Mīr Ḥasan al-Zuhdī ibn Khalīl Bāshā and his seal impression reading "fa-tabāraka Allāh aḥsan al-khāliqīn" (fol. 11a). Acquired from Brill, Leyden, 1900.
