A few marginal notes and glosses. Author of main text is perhaps Zayn al-Dīn ʻAbd al-Raḥīm ibn ʻAbd al-Raḥmān al-Qāhirī al-ʻAbbāsī, 963 [1555/6], this work being an abridgment of his larger work Maʻāhid al-tanṣīṣ ʻalá shawāhid al-Talkhīṣ (see Ḥājjī Khalīfah, Kashf al-ẓunūn (1835-58), II, p. 411). Title appears on the lower edge.
Collation: Paper ; fol. i + 159 ; catchwords ; foliation every ten folios using Hindu-Arabic numerals ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.
Layout: 21 lines per page ; frame-ruled in red. Fols. 1b-2a frame-ruled in gold.
Description: Watermarks (anchor) ; MS in good condition.
Origin: [Sharḥ shawāhid] Copied middle of Jumādá II,1012 by ʻAbd al-Ḥalīm ibn Rajab al-Mulāzim (fol. 157b) -- [Fāyidah] Copied 20 Jumādá II,1012 (fol. 159b).

Contemporaneous? type II (with flap) binding in brown leather. Blind-stamped mandorla with gold painted outline. Gold-tooled and decorative rolled edging on covers. Similar decoration on flap. Brown paper pastedowns.
