Summary note
A commentary on the famous grammatical poem, al-Alfīyah. The author of this commentary is the son of the elder Ibn Mālik.

Title from text (fol. 1a).
Marginal and interlinear notes and glosses. Symbols written on the top edge.
Collation: Paper ; fol. ii + 309 ; catchwords ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.
Layout: 17 lines per page.
Description: Rubricated ; some vowel signs ; watermarks (circular design) ; MS in good condition but the first folio is partly defective. It appears that the edges of the folios have been trimmed.
Decoration: Headpiece illuminated with gold, orange, blue, brown and black (fol. 1b). Fols. 1a-2b framed in gold and black.
Origin: According to colophon copied late Muḥarram 979 by Qāsim ibn ʻAbd al-Raḥīm al-Bakrī (fol. 309a).
Incipit: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم وبه تستعين اما بعد الحمد لله سبحانه بماله من المحامد

Binding note
Type II (with flap) binding in brown leather. Upper cover is cut down from a larger volume with offset blind-stamped mandorla. Lower cover has blind-stamped mandorla with pendants and corner motifs. Flap has blind-stamped design underneath black silk. Fabric doublures and flyleaves of black silk. Multi-colored endbands.
