Original poems of eulogy, mostly to al-Malik al-Nāṣir of the Rasūlid dynasty of al-Yaman.
Notes
Collation: Paper ; fol. 213 ; catchwords ; foliation in red in Hindu-Arabic numerals ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.
Decoration: Title page and first page illuminated. Title page frame-ruled with gold and blue. Title page includes a headpiece in gold, dark brown, light blue surrounding the author's name. The first page of the text has a gold headpiece with blue and white decoration and gold and blue frame-ruling. Folio 2a has gold and blue frame; subsequent folios have a blue single-line frame. Codex irregularly alternates between white, yellow, and red paper.
Description: Red, black and green headings throughout ; MS is rare ; MS in fair condition, many folios are worm-eaten with some mended.
Layout: 15 lines per page ; frame-ruled in blue ; verse separators in red or green.
Marginal notes. On folio 128 there is a ʻʻpoetical treeʼʼ in praise of al-Malik al-Nāṣir. MS of importance for the historical study of the Rasūlid period. The author occupied a teaching position in the Jihādīyah School at Taʻizz and in the Niẓāmīyah at Zabīd. He also acted as judge in the latter town.
