    Summary note
Amplification (takhmīs) of ʻAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlāniʼs poem which begins: mā fī al-ṣabābati manhilun mustaʻdhabu, by Ibn Ḥijjah and Badr al-Dīn ibn al-Ṣāḥib.
    Notes
    • Collation: Paper ; fol. iv + 8 + iv ; catchwords ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.
    • Description: Rubricated ; MS in poor condition ; folios 2, 4, 5 and 7 are foxed and mended with gauze.
    • Layout: 15 lines per page.
    • Marginal notes in different hands. The work was composed 797 (1394/95) in Maʻarrat al-Nuʻmān, where al-Ḥasan ibn ʻAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyá ibn Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Naṣr ibn Abī Bakr ʻAbd al-Razzāq ibn ʻAdb-al-Qādir al-Jīlānī, a descendant of the great Jīlānī, asked Ibn Ḥijjah to amplify the poem and showed him a previous amplification of the same poem by Ibn al-Ṣāḥib. Ibn Ḥijjah, not pleased with previous amplification, decided to have it appear side by side with his own in order to reveal the marked differences. Ironically he called the work Rashf al-Manhilayn, his own and that of Ibn al-Ṣāḥib. First paragraph of MS indicates that same man at whose request work was composed is also scribe to whom Ibn Ḥijjah dictated MS.
