    Summary note
Two poems rhyming in mīm in praise of the Prophet. The first was composed by al-Shammāʻ, who is also a joint author of the second poem, which is of the type īdāʻ. In this īdāʻ the first hemistich of the first verse of the Burdah constitutes the first hemistich of the first verse in the present ode, the continuation of which is supplied by al-Shammāʻ. The second hemistich of the first verse of the Burdah constitutes the second hemistich of the second verse of the present poem, the beginning of which is likewise supplied by the author.

Folio 28, on which the second poem begins, has been marked by a later hand with a blue silk thread stitched into it. The dates of composition of both poems are mentioned in the last verses of each, the first being 860 [1456] and the second [8]57 [1453]. Both were first written in the enclosure around the Kaʻbah. Page immediately after the colophon has a number of medical prescriptions for poisoned wounds and information on the use of banj (bhang).
