Summary note
From the Introduction: The purpose of this paper is to present the issues and implications of the overtime debate through a review of legislative standards in Canada and selected Euoprean countries (West Germany, France and Great Britain), and of overtime clauses and the collective agreement with special emphasis on arbitration cases, a statistical overview of overtime provisions and of the extent of overtime usage, a presentation of the submissions to the Ontario Task Force on Hours of Work and Overtime, and reviews of some major studies on overtime use.
