Summary note

Leaf from a Qurʾān manuscript consisting of Sūrat Ibrāhīm, ayahs 38-52, and Sūrat al-Ḥijr, ayahs 1-18. Probably from the Mamluk period, Egypt.

Notes

• Ms. leaf.
• Physical description: 14-15 lines per page. Most of text written in naskhī script in black on white paper with markings in red; each page has three large bands of muhaqqaq script. Ayahs terminate in gilt discs. The title of the sūrah is inscribed in white over gold with some floral scroll decoration and a blue frame. The entire text is bordered by a multi-colored frame. In the right margin on each page are 3 ornamental medallions; marginal writting in red on recto indicates the beginning of Juzʾ 14.
