Illustrations: Chromoxylographed frontis. and 9 other leaves of plates by Dalziel, included in pagination, each showing Dolly and her friends in several historical or national costumes; engraved t.p. vignette and other engraved ills. of the dolls in costume throughout the text.

Story is narrated in the first person by Dolly about her international adventures after being bought by Elsie and her mother at a "Fancy Fair" in London (cf. Warne's Life of a Doll).
