Summary note
Montana photograph album (“Montana Views and Scenes” on front flyleaf) consisting of 48 sepia-tone gelatin photographs (approx. 4.75” x 6.75” or 11 x 16 cm.). 25 images feature views of frontier lifestyles and scenery (ranches, mines, millworks, and equipment); 10 snapshots feature Assiniboine Indians and lifestyles; 7 feature soldiers and military life; and 6 feature local people and friends. Each image is captioned in white ink, mounted in black cloth album (7” x 11”). Presumably, the photographs were taken by an officer at Fort Assinniboine, near Havre, Montana, in the final years of 19th century.
