  • 2d Paris ed., 1st printing; 4th line of p. 70 begins "que vne" and not "qu'vne" as found in later printings. It does not contain the "carton" mentioned in Payen's bibliography, but has the notice "An lecteur", which is usually lacking in this ed. This notice is slightly different from previous ed.
  • Princeton copy 2 (2022-0023Q) 192 autograph annotations by Antoine de Laval and his nephew, Charles de LaMure, in brown ink, in the margins of the copy. Many passages underlined.
Binding note
  • Princeton copy 2 (2022-0023Q) Binding signed by Pagnant. Green morocco, ribbed spine, gilt edges on witnesses.
  • Princeton copy 1 bound in 19th cent. armorial binding in full red morocco, doublures, signed 'Duru 1859' on free endpaper. Gilt arms on sides are those of Baron Seillière.
