            • Text is a nonsense verse devised by Samuel Foote to test the memory of actor Charles Macklin, who boasted that he could repeat by memory anything that he had heard or read even a single time (cf. Osborne).
            • One of Caldecott's "landscape format" toy books, wider (24 cm) than tall (20 cm), and generally dating as a group from 1882-1885 (cf. Masaki, p. 132-6).
            • Illustrations: 6 full-page chromoxlyographs plates, and other pages with three-quarter page woodcut line-drawings in black-brown with text above or below.
