  • Date from BL (Titums, Ann, and Tea-Party all first pub. sequentially in 1871 as part of Routledge's Shilling series).
  • Publisher's monogramed logo printed on t.p. ; t. p. printed within thin ruled border.
  • Printed on alternate rectos and versos with blank guard-sheet leaves between.
  • 4 separate works (3 about animals who dress and act like people), each with its own half-t.p. and a different layout, bound together into 1 vol.
  • Routledge's "Picture Books" were cloth-bound compilations of 4 Shilling Series titles, also pub. individually in wrappers (cf. Cotsen 14762, Tittums and Fido).
  • Illustrations: First two works each with 6 colored engravings and the second two each with 5, both including a double-leaf centerfold ill.;
  • Cotson copy: 3rd plate from "Titums and Fido" misbound so it faces p. 4 of "Cat's Tea Party."
Binding note
Pub. maroon bds., black- and gilt-stamped on upper with pictorial design (repeating plate [4] from "Titums") showing Paul Parrot wooing Mrs Daw.
