  • This semi-autobiographical novel is based on the experiences of the author during the 1930s. Tamura Ichiji was one of the first to draw attention to the issue of special education and the rights of chidlren with disabilities. After the war, the novel was made into a film, along with its sequel, "Children who hold hands" (Te wo tsunagu kora).
