Title proper from privilège at beginning of roll; uniform title is conventional title used by Dubourg.
Etched and engraved throughout.
Scroll case is papier-maché on wooden frame; axles are wooden dowels attached to heavy wire cranks with wooden handles.
The Carte is described by Diderot in vol. 3 of the Encyclopédie (Paris, 1753) under "Chronologique (Machine)."
