Careful copy of a treatise on metaphors, completed in 1182/1768 (see end of copy, fol. 111b).

• Title supplied by cataloger, according to R. Mach, GAL, and beginning of text (fol. 2a). The name of the author appears at the beginning and end of the text (fol. 2a and 111b).
• Physical description: 17 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red. Collation notes on the margin. Wove paper ; frame-ruled. Quinions. Kabīkaj on fol. 1a.
• Collation: Paper, fol. 111 ; 1-10¹⁰ 11¹⁰ (+1 at end of quire); catchword on the verso of each leaf.
• Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "Lisān 75". Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "838/2 Ḥ".
• Origin: According to colophon, copy completed on 8 Rajab 1236 (or: 1276) [April 1821 or Jan. 1860] by al-Sayyid Aḥmad al-Aḥmadī Ibn al-Ḥājj Ḥasan ---? (fol. 111b).
• Copyist: Aḥmad al-Aḥmadī ibn Ḥasan.
• Basmallah: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم وبه الايمان
• Incipit: نحمدك اللهم على ما علمتنا من محاسن الفصاحة واحاسن البيان والهمتنا من دقايق البلاغة ... [2أ] اما بعد فيقول الفقير الى رحمة ربه المنان ابو العرفان محمد بن على المعروف بالصبان غفر الله ذنوبه وستر فى الدارين عيوبه هذه رسالة وضعتها فى الاستعارات وما يتعلق بها وما يتبعها
• Explicit: بعد نقل ذلك عنهما بيتين فيهما تاكيد المجاز فالحق انه قليل لا ممنوع والله اعلم وقد تمم الله ما قصدته من رسالة تنطق بفرائد هذا الفن ونفائسه ... كما اثبت على نفسك وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وعلى اله [111ب] وصحبه وسلم تسليما كثيرا دائما الى يوم الدين قال مؤلفها تمت هذه النسخة على يد جامعها الفقير الى ربه المنان حمحد بن علي الصبان عمهما الله تعالى بالغفران فى سلخ شوال المنور من شهور سنة 1182 من الهجرة النبوية على صاحبها افضل الصلاة والسلام والحمد لله رب العالمين
