Summary note
When the emperor is imprisoned in a high tower, his smallest daughter, whom he has always ignored, uses her kite to save him.
Notes
CTSN copy: Inscribed by the author on front free endpaper 'For F. Rankin Weisgerber, undoubtedly one of the world's greatest kite fliers. From the daughter of the greatest kite flier with affectionate regards. Jane Yolen Christmas 1967.' With the illustrator's signature below.
Based on a Chinese legend about an emperor who succeeded in escaping from prison when his youngest daughter wove a rope of her own hair, attached it to her kite's tail, and flew it up to him.
