Commentary on Talkhīṣ al-Miftāḥ by Jalāl al-Dīn al-Qazwīnī (d. 739/1338), an abridgment of part 3 of Miftāḥ al-ʻulūm by al-Sakkākī (d. 626/1229), on al-Maʻānī wa-al-bayān.

Physical description: 19 lines per page. Written in black ink with use of red, mainly to overline the commented text. The text is framed within a single red line (gold on fol. 2b, with a simple cartouche with a basmalah). Thin cream European paper with watermark. Important ḥāshiyah on the margin and on pieces of paper pasted between the original leaves. Fol. 1 is a later addition, with inscriptions, including a short definition of "mushākilah". Some leaves loose.
Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "--- [lisān?] 17". Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "1477/2 Ḥ".
Incipit: الحمد لله الذى الهمنا حقايق المعانى ودقايق البيان وخصصنا ببدايع الايادى ... وبعد فان احق الفضايل بالتقديم واسبقها فى استيجاب التعظيم هو التحلى بحقايق العلوم والمعارف ... [6أ] ... قال المص بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله افتح كتابه بعد التيمن بالتسمية بحمد الله سبحانه

Quarter bound in kakhi paper and brown leather. Blind-stamped panel on the covers; gilt working on spine, with the title "Muṭawwal" imprinted in gold (vertical). Pink paper pastedowns and free endpaper.
