Summary note

Commentary on Ḥirz al-amānī or al-Shāṭibīyah, a versification by al-Qāsim ibn Firruh al-Shāṭibī (d. 590/1194) of al-Taysīr fī al-qirāʾāt al-sabʻ, a work on the readings of the Qurʾān by ʻUthmān ibn Saʻīd al-Dānī al-Qurṭubī (d. 444/1053), comprising the text up to the end of the commentary of sūrah 2.

• Title from title page (fol. 1a).
• Physical description: 21 lines per page. Written in a casual small naskh in black ink, with use of red and green ink. Thick European paper with watermark. Catchword on the verso of each leaf. Piece of paper with note placed between fol. 195 and 196. Modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals. Worm-eaten.
• Origin: Copied by Ibrāhīm al-Sindī (colophon, fol. 259a). Mach dates this copy to 780 H. However we could not find this date in the ms. and the paper and script seem to indicate a later date.
• Incipit: الحمد لله الذي اسبغ علينا نعمه وافاض لدينا مننه وانزل الينا كتابه ... اما بعد فان اولى ما اخنى فيه المكلف عمره وعلق به خاطره واعمل فيه فكره تحصيل العلوم النافعة الشرعية واستعمالها فى الاعمال المرضية
• Explicit: وبيتي وعهدي فاذكروني مضافها وربي وبي مني وإني معا حلا اي في هذه السورة من ياات الاضافة المختلف في فتحها ... [259أ] ... وقلت في اخر سورة البقرة بيتا ابتداته بعد ياات الاضافة المنضومة وهو فتلك ثمان والزوايد واتقون من قبلها الداعي دعاني قد انجلا والله اعلم
