Summary note

Anonymous abridgment of Gharīb al-ḥadīth by Abū ʻUbayd al-Qāsim ibn Sallām. Brockelmann mentions an abridgment by ʻAlī Ḥusayn ibn Aḥmad al-Astarābādhī and one by the author himself (GAL, I, 107: 14/1).

• Title from colophon (fol. 150b), re-written on: "Mukhtaṣar al-Gharīb".
• Physical description: 15 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red. The text is vocalized. Dark cream paper, glossy, with laid and chain lines visible. Fol. 1 is a modern replacement. Text hard to read on some leaves due to a very corrosive ink.
• Note dated 1160 H. [1747 or 8] appraising the content of the book on the margin of the colophon (fol. 150b).
• Origin: Copy completed on 18 Rajab 850 [Oct. 9, 1446] by Nūr(?) Muḥammad ibn Yāsīn ibn Sulaymān (colophon, fol. 150b).
• Incipit: قال النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم زويت لى الأرض حتى اريت مشارقها ومغاربها
• Beginning of original copy (fol. 2a): وقال ليس في الجبهة ولا في النخة ولا في الكسعة صدقة قال ابو عبيد ه الجبهة الخيل والنخة الرقيق والكسعة الحمير
• Explicit: وهو الرجب يقول اشتريت منك هذا الثوب بمايه ثم ينطر فيجده قد اشتراه باقل من ذلك يقول لا يجوز ذلك يرد الى الحق ويترك الغلت ذها ما اشبه فى المعاملات كلها آخر مختصر غريب الحديث
