Layout: 15 lines per page ; ruled.
Description: Written in medium small professional script in black ink with use of magenta ; watermarks ; inscription in pencil in Arabic script on fol. 1a: "Mīzān al-ʻaql". Worm-eaten.
Origin: [al-Kāfī] Copy completed on 1 Jumādá al-Ūlá 1195 [April 25, 1781] by Ḥāfiẓ Ḥusayn ibn Abī Bakr al-Nūrah Qūlī, in the Takīyah of the late Murād al-Mīlāqī al-Qusṭantīnī (colophon, fol. 29b).
Incipit: [كتاب القسطاس] قال الشيخ الامام الاجل الواهد جار الله العلّامة اسئل الله الذى عدل موازين قسطه وعاير مكائيل قبضه وبسطه ... ان يحملنى على السوية فيما اورد واصدر ... اصناف العلوم الادبية ترتقى الى اثنى عشر صنفا الاول على اللغة الثانى علم الابنية -- [الكافي في علمي] الحمد لله على الانعام والشكر على الالهام والصلوة والسلام على سيدنا محمد خير الانام واله وصحبه السادة الاعلام وبعد فهذا تاليف كافى فى علمى العروض والقوافى والله الموفق وعليه التوكل الاول فيه مقدمة وبابان وخاتمة فالمقدمة فى اشياء لا بد منها احرف التقطيع التى تتالف منها الاجزآء عشرة

Binding note
Red leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers. Central panel outlined by gilt fillets, with gold stamped central obloid piece and corner-pieces, outlined in gold. The outer frame consists of gilt fillets and a guilloche. Modern pink paper pastedown and free endpaper.
