Summary note
Commentary on Mukhtaṣar al-muntahá, an abridgment by Jamāl al-Dīn ʻUthmān ibn al-Ḥājib (d. 646/1249) of his own Muntahá al-suʼāl wa-al-amal fī ʻilmay al-uṣūl wa-al-jadal, a manual of Malikī law. The commentary was completed on 10 Jumādá II 766 [March 4, 1365] (see end of text, fol. 167a). The text is followed on fol. 167b-168a by a commentary on the introduction of the Muntahá attributed to Ibn al-ḤBāb (fol. damaged with loss of text). Biographical note on the author on fol. 1a.

Title from colophon (fol. 167a). The title appears in the preamble as "Tuhfat al-masʼūl fī sharḥ Mukhtaṣar Muntahá al-sūl" (fol. 2a, l. 3).
Physical description: 32 lines per page. Written in medium small Maghribī script in black ink, with larger script in black or magenta ink for "qāla" "aqūl". Light cream European paper with watermark. Lower and inner margins worm eaten.
Inscriptions in pencil in Arabic script on fol. 1a, reading respectively: "Uṣūl-i fiqh 624", "---? 777".
Origin: Copy completed for himself ("li-nafsih") by Muḥammad ibn Maymūn(?) al-Wāṣilī, on Sunday 3(?) Shawwāl 841 [March 30, 1438] (colophon, fol. 167a).
Incipit: قال الشيخ الامام العلامة فاتح اقبال المشكلات وكاشف نقاب الشبه المعضلات ... محيى الدين ابو زكريا يهيى بن الشيخ العالم ابى عمر موسى بن عمر الرهونى الحمد لله الذى باين بين العقول مباينة ... اما بعد فان العقول السليمة متطابقة والشرايع باسرها متوافقة على ان العلم من اكمل الكمالات
