Summary note
Elegant copy of a commentary on the long commentary by Masʻūd ibn ʻUmar al-Taftazānī (d. 791/1389) on Talkhīṣ al-Miftāḥ, an abdrigment by Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd al-Raḥmān al-Qazwīnī (d. 739/1338) of the third part of Miftāḥ al-ʻulūm by al-Sakkākī (d. 626/1229), on rhetoric (al-Maʻānī wa-al-bayān).

Title from colophon (fol. 107a).
Physical description: 27 lines per page. Written in small naskh in black ink. The text is vocalized. Gold outlined in black for "qawluh" and "aqūl". Basmallah in gold outlined in black with vocalization in blue ink. Blue ink for "wa-baʻd". Light cream paper, glossy, with laid and chain lines visible. Drawing (floral motif) on the upper margin of fol. 1b. Ḥāshiyah on the margin, apparently by the same hand as the main text. Several inscriptions on fol. 1a, including verses of poetry in Persian.
Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "---(?) 7". Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "Ḥāʼ 915".
Origin: Copy completed on a Wednesday in 836 H. The colophon states that this is the copy of Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan(colophon, fol. 107a, followed by verses of poetry).
Incipit: الحمد لله رب العالمين والصلوة والسلام على سيد المرسلين محمد واله اجمعين اما بعد فهذه حواش على الشرح المشهور لتلخيص المفتاح كنت قد قيجتها عليه مجملة حال ما قرأه بعض احبتى ... قوله وبهذا يظهر انّ ما ذهب اليه صاحب الكشاف من ان اللام فى الحمد لتعريف الجنس دون الاستغراق الى آخره اقول يريد انّ اختصاص جنس الحمد بالله تعالى يستلزم اختصاص جميع المحامد به

Dark orange paper over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. Pink-dyed paper pastedowns and free endpaper.

Ownership statement and impressions of two seals on fol. 1a, one in the name of Nūḥādī Zade(?), with seal reading: "al-Sayyid Aḥmad Nūrī", dated 1274 H. ; the other a seal, reading "Muṣtafá Shawkat", dated 1287 H. Acquired from Abraham Shalom Yahuda, 1942.
