    Summary note
Two different divans by Kaimi, with a short selection of poetry at the start entitled "Der nutk-i Celali Efendi".
    Notes
    • Ms. composite codex.
    • Title from lower and upper edges of text block.
    • Ms. additions: 1 loose sheet with a talisman in black ink: 3 large concentric circles in the middle, with series of numbers in the centre with invocations around them; surrounded by 7 small circles, each with different combinations of the words Allāh and Muḥammad. 1 loose, folded sheet with a letter, in Arabic, from Muḥammad al-Mahdī al-Sanūsī (1844-1902), the son of Muḥammad ibn ʻAlī al-Sanūsī (1787-1859) and leader of the Sanūsī order in Libya founded by his father, to Shaykh Muḥammad Yāsīn. The letter itself is dated Shaʻbān 1304 (1887), but is then followed by an inscription containing the name al-Sayyid Muḥammad ibn al-Sanūsī al-Mahdī and date 1276 (1859-60) [referring to his father and the date of his death?].
    • Layout: 27 lines per page.
    • Description: Rubricated ; written in a medium small taʻlīq with elements of ruqʻah in black ink. Catchwords on the verso of each leaf. Two different types of glazed European paper.
    • Origin: Both main texts and the short preliminary text appear to be in the same hand. Text 2 is signed by the scribe and dated: copied by Derviş Ebubekir in 1202 (1787-88) -- colophon text 2 (fol. 27b). The ink and the paper in text 3 are different and thus, although possibly written by the same scribe, the text is probably of a slightly later date.
    Binding note
Marbled paper over pasteboard with evidence of brown leather around edges of covers. Spine binding missing and only the fabric underneath remains. Envelope flap loose inside the covers. Pastedowns in cream paper. Binding very fragile and some worm damage to the paper.
